If you prefer to head North from Hill Farm Marina you’ll be heading for Birmingham. A new and exciting way to explore the canal system of the second largest city in the UK reputed to have more canals than Venice. There is truly something for all the family take the opportunity to do some shopping, eat at some amazing restaurants and bars, visit The Symphony Hall, The National Indoor Arena, Sealife Centre, Cadbury’s World, The Jewellery Quarter, Chinatown …and much much more. Complimentary visitor mooring right in the centre of the city make for a convenient and novel city break.
If the city scene is not for you though, then stay in the countryside heading onto The Grand Union Canal at Kingswood Junction. Cruise down to Warwick and its castle and for the real lock keepers among you take on the famous ‘Hatton Flight’ of locks!

Explore Shakespeare birthplace, take in a play at the RSC theatre and visit the famous ‘Dirty Duck Inn’. Complimentary mooring is available at the visitor moorings in Stratford, making sightseeing easy and returning to your Blue Otter moored in the centre of town. Steeped in culture and history, this beautiful town is set on the banks of the River Avon, is one of the most popular destinations in the UK.
From here you could buy a river licence and lock down onto the River Avon. The cruise from Stratford to Tewkesbury will take you through some of the most beautiful Warwickshire, countryside passing through Welford on Avon, Bidford on Avon, Evesham, Pershore and on to Tewkesbury.
Theatrical Stratford on Avon – 5 nights

Here you can moor up within walking distance of Shakespeare birthplace, RSC theatre is a short walk across the Bancroft where you could take in a play (when theatres can re-open) and visit the famous ‘Dirty Duck Inn’ a step back in time and enjoy a sundowner returning to The Blue Otter moored in the centre of town. Spend time moored in the centre of Stratford at the free visitor moorings, and then take a leisure cruise back to Farm Hill Marina, stopping off wherever catches your eye for a walk, drink or bite to eat.
Alternatively, take on the challenge and beautiful scenery for Hatton Locks – with cafes and pubs temporarily closed due to Covid-19, make sure you have supplies to fuel your energy on this 34 lock route!
